25 indicted from Baltimore Central Regional Tactical Unit
Baltimore, MD. On Tuesday, December 3rd, various staff members of the Tactical Unit were indicted on 236 separate criminal counts. Some of these counts included 1st degree assault, gang involvement and misconduct.
The unit is often referred to as TAC. It stands for the Baltimore Central Region Tactical Unit. It is a specialized unit within the DPSCS Divison of Pretrial and Detention Services, which reports directly to the Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner of DPSCS Pretrial.
TAC’s mission statement states that “… it will provide the best premium quality support service available. It is our team goal to train hard, train often and execute at a level that far exceeds the industry standard.”
The TAC team has a specific territory in which it operates.
- Metropolitan Transition Center (MTC)
- Baltimore Pretrial Facility at Jessup Correctional Institute (BPFJ)
- Jail Industries Building (JI)
- Baltimore City Booking and Intake Center (BCBIC)
The dates of the charges go back to 2016 and extend all they way to September of 2019. Maryland State Attorney Marilyn Mosby made the announcement in the administrative building of the Baltimore jail complex downtown. Next to her stood Secretary Robert L. Green of the DPSCS, a Larry Hogan appointee.
